Poems by Students Whose Last Names Begin with G-I

Sugary sweet,

Bits of chocolate speckle them.

I knead them with my hands,

To make them soft and chewy.

My warm inviting smell

Welcomes all who enter the kitchen

ELEPHANT

The fields, grass

Big, grey, rough skin

Playful, gentle, kind

Big eyes, big tusks

Floppy ears, big feet

Brooke Hardy

SUN

Warming up the asphalt

burning up my skin

aiding flowers in their growth

rays dancing in the sky

light traveling through our atmosphere

warmth tingling on my face

hides behind dark clouds

brings morning,

welcomes night

brings joy into my day.

VOLLEYBALL NATIONALS GAME-WINNING POINT

Sweating palms, nervous quakes

waiting for the whistle to be blown

crowds yelling, fans jumping, the announcer announcing

people gathering around the court like bees to a rose

noise, noise everywhere

the sharp noise of the whistle and all of the noise focuses to you and the ball

boom……boom…..boom

right left right left, and serve.

FROZEN BLUEBERRIES

Staining your fingers tips, hands, and lips

So cold they can make you shiver

Tasting fresh in a smoothie

Here and there getting a blueberry the size of a quarter

–Juniper Heidenfeld

White and grain of rice;

With seaweed like dry, thin paper.

Wrapped layer by layer,

taste by taste.

All the fractions of a single roll,

The orange lava drips down the side.

Placed in my mouth,

The tastes together,

Divine.
